Sparrow F. Alden

Sparrow lives and writes in the straw bale cabin in the New Hampshire woods that she built with her wife. She writes of ordinary people in extraordinary times through fantasy, poorly-lit academia, and a dash of science fiction. Also about dragons, which are absolutely not ordinary people. Sparrow tends toward cozy stories; she hosts a writers’ (and others’) free Zoom gathering a few times per week (don’t hesitate to ask for the link); she is strongly pro-Oxford comma. Ask her about hyphenated words, the letter S, and the absolute joy of being a writing coach (she insists that there’s no such thing as teaching writing) at Signum University and at River Valley Community College. She is also the author of Relic World, A Flash of Wings and The Help Desk Year 1: The Freshling Year.

Morning Meander: The Wheel of the Year

A pagan gal and her dogs take morning walks and write poetry to contemplate and celebrate each day. We (the dogs and I) hope that you find encouragement in our pages to continue your own spiritual journey. This book is a compilation of the other Morning Meander Kindle books into one paperback.

Morning Meander: Gratitude, Advent, and Yule (Morning Meanders Book 1)

A pagan gal and her dogs (there are two now) walk through a November of Gratitude, explore what Advent means on their path, and create a new story about the Holly King for Yule. Their experiences are captured in raw poetry, shared as meditation prompts for fellow travelers of all paths.

Morning Meander: Imbolc (Morning Meanders Book 2)

A pagan gal and her dogs take morning walks through rural New Hampshire. The dark and cold season affects Sparrow’s heart and courage; walking the dogs is reaching for wellness. Their experiences are captured in raw poetry, shared as meditation prompts for fellow travelers of all paths. This second edition has updated the dating system to be used in both Southern and Northern Hemispheres, with new day-poems added to accommodate shifting dates of holy days.

Morning Meander: Ostara
Morning Meander: Beltane
Morning Meander: Litha

Morning Meander: Ostara (Morning Meanders Book 3)

A pagan gal and her dogs take morning walks through rural New Hampshire. Their experiences are captured in raw poetry, shared as meditation prompts for fellow travelers of all paths. Spring always comes, but we do not always believe that it will this time; on other mornings, the sheer joy of awareness makes words nearly impossible. Please come walking with us.

Morning Meander: Beltane (Morning Meanders Book 4)

A pagan gal and her dogs take morning walks through rural New Hampshire. Their experiences are captured in raw poetry, shared as meditation prompts for fellow travelers of all paths. The path to the ancient holy day of Beltane demands hope in mud season – and surprises us with joy each day.

Morning Meander: Litha (Morning Meanders Book 5)

A pagan gal and her dogs take morning walks through rural New Hampshire. Their experiences are captured in raw poetry, shared as meditation prompts for fellow travelers of all paths. This walk to the Summer Solstice is a gathering of energy, a gathering of loved ones. Energy shifts, splits, follows multiple streams. The tale of the Oak King and the Holly King continues, a modern re-interpretation of an old story.
